What is Iygengar Yoga?

Who is B.K.S Iyengar? And what is Iyengar Yoga?

Through this method we are able to help adults of all ages, those with varying physical, mental and emotional conditions find a tailored practice. The ZOE approach is to meet you where you are, mentally, physically, emotionally, and energetically, the wholistic approach, and help bring clarity, harmony, nurturing self love, and focus to todays overstimulated minds. We are able to give lots of variations on poses in classes, ensuring each person begins to understand the heathy anatomy, physiology and how the nervous systems works.

According to the National Institutes of Health, scientific evidence shows that yoga supports stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating, weight loss and quality sleep.

Breathwork is an important part of yoga.

Gentle breathwork practices are used to help us begin to understand the energy body, and how to create more calm, or more energy, or to help clear emotions and stuck energy. Trauma is held in our tissue, not in the brain. The body keeps the score and learning to regulate your nervous system is a HUGE key to healing.

Science has found that breathwork can help with:

  • stress and anxiety
  • increasing energy and boosting immunity
  • lowering blood pressure and improving circulation
  • Helps manage pain
  • Boosts mood and self-esteem
  • Strengthens the lungs
  • Releases toxins
  • Improves sleep
  • Helps manage depression

Restorative Yoga is a part of each class to help learn the art of slowing down, and becoming still.

The body needs movement but the nervous system needs rest. Dina helps empower her students to create daily home practices to train the body/mind to come down from the ledges of stress, which is the number one leading cause of death in America. Scientific benefits of restorative yoga:

Meditation is another form Dina teaches to help us sit with our thoughts and emotions.

To be able to sit with oneself no matter what life is giving us, is a place of deep internal power. Learning to be less reactive to people, places, things, helps us to create more harmony in our daily life.
