Seminole Heights is a hub for eclectic mom ‘n pop shops, restaurants, and a thriving community known for its robust diversity. For five years now, we have been blessed to call The Heights our home.
What is Iyengar Yoga?
Iyengar Yoga, named after, and developed by, B. K. S. Iyengar, is a form of yoga as exercise, with a detailed and precise emphasis, on alignment in the performance of its postures.
This method focuses on understanding your own unique structure, and how to create healthy and anatomically sound patterns of movement. And why does this matter? Because our nemesis over time is the force of gravity on the body, creating injuries, and thusly, patterns of pain.
Sitting at a desk, being on your cell phone, lack of movement, and aging, all play a role in spine, muscle and tissue deterioration, which, in turn, adds tremendous pressure to our joints. The body works constantly to keep us going, but managing the body, via the skilled actions of Iyengar Yoga, frees the body, such that we may enjoy and live our best lives.
What is a class or private session like?
Dina, from her historic bungalow, teaches group classes and private sessions to all ages and all abilities. The ZOE studio is a safe space for all to explore the vastness of yoga. Poses are demonstrated, actions explained, and individualized attention is then given to observe, offer adjustments, modify postures, and finally, provide direction to the next steps.
We generously employ props of all kinds, to help students find safe alignment, – all the while, working toward the attainment of the classical poses.
Dina’s job is to find the path into the poses, no matter your challenge. Each body is unique, requiring precise demonstration and instruction to allow students a deeper exploration of mind, body, and breath. All one hour private sessions are tailored to your specific needs.
