Central Florida is repleat with yoga studios. However, we are blessed to finally have a true Iyengar Studio now open in St. Pete! As a practicioner of Iyengar Yoga for over a decade I have had to wait a very long time for a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher. Finally, two years ago Tricia Amheiser crossed my path and I have studied with her weekly ever since. She has just opened her own studio a few weeks ago and Am so excited to share it!

Tricia hails from the U.K., with that one of a kind british accent, keen eye, dry humor and deep love for Iyengar Yoga. She has passed 4 Iyengar assements. She is now a Junior level 2 teacher. As a student in the process of studying for assesment let me tell you it is no easy feat. We go through rigorous training programs and self study for years. Then, when your recommending teacher thinks you are ready you can go for assesment. It’s not like regular teacher training where just do your best and you will pass. No, the Iyengars have a level of expectation for their teachers to be the best. So you can absolutely fail. It’s truly becoming a right of passage as I watch myself and my teacher transform week after week by this practice.

When you study with Tricia you are getting years and years of knowledge passed down from her teachers and from her own inspiring practice. She has guided me out of back pain, helps me understand the directions of the poses with my scoliosis, helps me become a better teacher and human being as well as gives all her knowledge freely. She is one hell of a teacher.

Her studio is located in the heart of St. Pete and she has everything you need to become efficient in the art and science of Iyengar Yoga.  She teaches classes for every level of practicioner, from total beginners to advanced. Please don’t sell yourself short thinking Iyengar yoga is just good for basics. Go try an advanced class and see how “basic” it is.

Actually it is Guruji himself, B.K.S Iyengar, who said “There are no beginner poses. Only beginner students.” Try a class out for yourself. All classes on Friday’s are $5 and she even has a class for teachers. The teachers class is taught by Tricia as we follow her practice. No words. Just watching her explore and we follow along.

As a yoga studio owner I can say that studying with Tricia will enhance your teaching or yoga practice and it will change your life. Please visit her website to learn more at http://www.iy-sp.com or call 1-727-417-8309 for more info. Tricia also teaches a level 2/3 class every Wednesday at my Tampa studio ZOE Yoga Lifestyle. Wishing all students to begin or continue on the path of self exploration and freedom.
